The Meadows 6"
Spartan, 7" Trojan, and the 8 1/2" Hercules are each available with
lumber shift chains. The purpose of the lumber shift chains is to move
cants from a jump-transfer onto the table of the edger so that the cant may be
positioned in front of the gang of saws. The vertical movement of the
lumber shift chains is controlled by a 5" x 8" air cylinder. The
operator raises and lowers the lumber shift chains by depressing a foot
pedal. The lateral movement of chains is controlled by a hydraulic motor
that receives hydraulic flow from the hydraulic system on the edger. The
operator has a toogle switch on the control panel to operate the lateral
movement of the chains.
