When selecting the appropriate stone burr mill
you should consider whether your electrical supply is single-phase or 3-phase,
the voltage of your electrical supply, and your desired rate of production per
hour. For 60-hertz electric supplies motors up to 10-hp may be used with
either a single-phase or a 3-phase electrical supply while motors 15-hp and
larger may be used with only a 3-phase electrical supply. Electric motors
for 50-hertz electric supplies are available. The 8” stone burr mill
operates with a 1-hp electric motor, the 12” stone burr mill operates with a
5-hp electric motor, the 16” stone burr mill operates with a 7 1/2-hp electric
motor, the 20” stone burr mill operates with a 10-hp electric motor, the 24”
stone burr mill operates with a 15-hp electric motor, and the 30” stone burr
mill operates with a 25-hp electric motor. Meadows stone burr mills may be
configured for side/bottom discharge or discharge aided by a materials-handling
fan.
The millstones used in Meadows stone burr mills require regular maintenance. The process of dressing millstones returns the millstones to their new condition. Dressing millstones is the process by which you cut the surface of the millstone with a bushing tool so that the surface becomes rough. Dressing millstones also includes redefining the depth of the furrows. Some customers choose to dress their own millstones while others choose to ship or delivery their stone burr mills to our factory to have the service performed. For those who choose to dress their own millstones we sell an instructional DVD and the necessary tools.

Meadows Stone Burr Mills:

Meadows Mills offers new stone burr mills from five families of stone burr mills, the 8" light commercial/household, the Natural, the Heritage, the Centennial, and the Ultimate. Meadows Mills also offers service and parts for the Meal Master and Master Meal families of stone burr mills.
The Natural (click here for photos and specifications): The Natural stone burr mill is available with 12" diameter millstones. The housings surrounding the millstones are fabricated from hot-rolled steel. The bearings are graphite mounted sealed roller bearings. Meadows Natural stone burr mills are equipped with a with a 7-quart plastic hopper. The Natural stone burr mill is not equipped with the grain cleaning shoe. Instead the Natural stone burr mill is equipped with a stainless steel grain receiver.
The Heritage (click here for photos and specifications): The Heritage is available with 16", 20", 24", or 30" diameter millstones. The housings surrounding the millstones are fabricated from hot-rolled steel. The bearings are mounted sealed roller bearings. All Meadows Heritage stone burr mills are equipped with a stainless steel hopper. The Heritage stone burr mills are equipped with a stainless steel grain receiver with a magnet. The Heritage stone burr mills are ideal for customers who are grinding wheat or corn that has been cleaned.
The Centennial: The Centennial is available with either 20" or 30" diameter millstones. The housings surrounding the millstones on the Centennial mills are fabricated from stainless steel. The bearings are mounted sealed roller bearings. All Meadows Centennial stone burr mills are equipped with a stainless steel hopper. The Centennial stone burr mills are equipped with the grain cleaning shoe with a magnet in the grain receiver. The cleaning shoe is mounted below the hopper and is designed to separate trash from your corn or wheat prior to entering the mill. The Centennial stone burr mill is ideal for customers who are grinding wheat or corn that has been cleaned for those customers whose wheat or corn needs additional cleaning. The Centennial stone burr mill is an attractive and hard working mill that is ideal for those customers who desire stainless steel.
The Ultimate: (click here for photos and specifications): The Ultimate is available with either 20" or 30" diameter millstones. Each piece of steel used on the Ultimate stone burr mill is precision cut from stainless steel. The main bearings are mounted sealed roller bearings with a stainless steel housing and insert. The thrust and locking handle is supported by a Dodge two-bolt graphite, self lubricating and maintenance free bearing. All Meadows Ultimate stone burr mills are equipped with a heavy 11-gauge stainless steel hopper. The flow of grain or corn from the hopper into the grain receiver is controlled by a 2" ball-valve with a stainless steel housing. The Ultimate stone burr mill is equipped with a stainless steel grain receiver which vibrates by the action created by an eccentric and cam. The electric motor, belt drive, and materials-handling fan are enclosed under a stainless steel guard. The bedstone housing has a pair of rollers underneath it so that taking apart the mill for millstone maintenance is made easier. The frame has been extended to provide room to perform millstone maintenance. Finally, the Ultimate stone burr mill has UL (Underwriter's Laboratories) sanitation certification which is based upon NSF standards 4 and 51.
The 8" Light Commercial/Household (click here for photos and specifications): The housings surrounding the millstones on the 8" Stone Burr Mill are cast from ductile iron. The bearings are bronze sleeves, which are pressed into the housing of the mill. The 8" stone burr mill is equipped with a 7-quart plastic hopper. The 8" stone burr mill is equipped with a stainless steel grain receiver that vibrates to allow grain to flow freely into the mill. The vibrating action is caused by an eccentric on the mill shaft. The 8" stone burr mill is ideal for those customers who desire a premium quality grind but do not require a large output.
The Meal Master: The housings surrounding the millstones on the Meal Master, and its predecessor the Master Meal, stone burr mill are cast from ductile iron. The bearing housings are also cast from ductile iron and contain a single row ball bearing with one grease shield removed for lubrication. All Meadows Meal Master stone burr mills are equipped with a stainless steel hopper. All Meal Master stone burr mills are equipped with a grain cleaning shoe with a magnet in the grain receiver. The cleaning shoe is mounted below the hopper and is designed to separate trash from your corn or wheat prior to entering the mill. The Meal Master stone burr mill is ideal for customers who are grinding wheat or corn that has been cleaned or for those customers whose wheat or corn needs additional cleaning. We no longer produce new Meal Master model stone burr mills, however, we do offer full restoration services for this model. The Meal Master can be found in the following sizes; 16", 20", 24", and 30".
