Meadows Stone Burr Mills, also referred to as Grist
Mills, are designed to grind dry, free-flowing grains
and/or corn into flour. Grains or corn that you intend to process should
have moisture contents less than 15% and should be free of natural oil.
All Meadows stone burr mills utilize Balfour pink granite millstones which are quarried in North Carolina. Despite centuries of scientific advancement, the age old method of stone grinding remains the best grinding method known. Lower grinding temperatures allow enzyme activity to continue and the stone grinding method provides finer flakes that yield more flavor. Totally natural, live flour or corn meal with unmatched flavor is the result. Treat yourself or your customers to a wholesome taste that will not be forgotten with a Meadows Stone Burr Mill.
The table below lists the available sizes and approximate capacity under normal grinding conditions. We now offer five stone burr mill models:
The Natural (click here for photos and specifications): The Natural model is available with 12" diameter millstones. The housings surrounding the millstones on the Natural mill are fabricated from hot- rolled steel. The bearings are graphite mounted sealed roller bearings. Meadows The Natural stone burr mills are equipped with a with a 7-quart plastic hopper. The Natural stone burr mill is not equipped with the grain cleaning shoe. Instead The Natural mill is equipped with a stainless steel grain receiver.
The Heritage (click here for photos and specifications): The Heritage model is available with 16", 20", 24", or 30" diameter millstones. The housings surrounding the millstones on the Heritage mills are fabricated from hot-rolled steel. The bearings are mounted sealed roller bearings. All Meadows Heritage stone burr mills are equipped with a stainless steel hopper. The Heritage stone burr mills are equipped with a grain cleaning shoe with a magnet in the grain receiver. The cleaning shoe is mounted below the hopper and is designed to separate trash from your corn or wheat prior to entering the mill. The Heritage stone burr mill is ideal for customers who are grinding wheat or corn that has been cleaned or for those customers whose wheat or corn needs additional cleaning.
The Centennial: The Centennial model is available with 20" or 30" diameter millstones. The housings surrounding the millstones on the Centennial mills are fabricated from stainless steel. The bearings are mounted sealed roller bearings. All Meadows Centennial stone burr mills are equipped with a stainless steel hopper. The Centennial stone burr mills are equipped with the grain cleaning shoe with a magnet in the grain receiver. The cleaning shoe is mounted below the hopper and is designed to separate trash from your corn or wheat prior to entering the mill. The Centennial stone burr mill is ideal for customers who are grinding wheat or corn that has been cleaned for those customers whose wheat or corn needs additional cleaning. The Centennial stone burr mill is an attractive and hard working mill that is ideal for those customers who desire stainless steel.
The 8" Light Commercial/Household (click here for photos and specifications): The housings surrounding the millstones on the 8" Stone Burr Mill are cast from ductile iron. The bearings are bronze sleeves, which are pressed into the housing of the mill. The 8" stone burr mill is equipped with a 7-quart plastic hopper. The 8" stone burr mill is equipped with a stainless steel grain receiver that vibrates to allow grain to flow freely into the mill. The vibrating action is caused by an eccentric on the mill shaft. The 8" stone burr mill is ideal for those customers who desire a premium quality grind but do not require a large output.
The Meal Master: The housings surrounding the millstones on the Meal Master stone burr mill are cast from ductile iron. The bearing housings are also cast from ductile iron and contain a single row ball bearing with one grease shield removed for lubrication. All Meadows Meal Master stone burr mills are equipped with a stainless steel hopper. All Meal Master stone burr mills are equipped with a grain cleaning shoe with a magnet in the grain receiver. The cleaning shoe is mounted below the hopper and is designed to separate trash from your corn or wheat prior to entering the mill. The Meal Master stone burr mill is ideal for customers who are grinding wheat or corn that has been cleaned or for those customers whose wheat or corn needs additional cleaning. We no longer produce new Meal Master model stone burr mills, however, we do offer full restoration services for this model. The Meal Master can be found in the following sizes; 16", 20", 24", and 30".
