McDonough 54" "E" Series Band Head Rig can be equipped with a Meadows #3 Deluxe track and carriage

 

The Meadows #3 Deluxe track frame and carriage can be equipped with the 54" "E" Series McDonough band head rig. This head rig allows for use of an 18 gauge or thinner blade which reduces saw kerf to approximately 0.090 inches. The feed rate remains high, with speeds of up to 200 feet per minute.  The 54" head rig is equipped with a electric or hydraulic driven offbearer conveyor.  The head rig also features a double column design with Timken railroad car bearings in the lower wheel.

Hand
  • Furnished in either right or left hand
Wheels
  • 54" diameter cast iron wheels (other sizes available) with a 7 1/4" face and a 1" rim thickness.  Head rig is complete with upper and lower wheel scrapes.
Blade
  • Standard length is approximately 30' (length varies with application).  Standard width is 8", 7" wide blades are available.  Head rig can be equipped with an 18-20 gauge blade resulting in a saw kerf of as low as 0.090".
Speed
  • Feed speeds of up to 200 feet per minute with saw speeds ranging from 7,000 to 10,000 SFPM depending upon species.
Saw Guides
  • Pressure type, contour broached cartridge. The lower guide is fixed with a saw dust shear. The upper guide may be moved depending on the application.
Strain
  • Dial adjustment air strain is standard.  The saw strain is 12,960 lbs. with B-10 bearing life of 20,000 hours.
Top Wheel Hoist
  • Manual is standard, hydraulic or electric is available.
Top Wheel Tilt
  • Manual is standard, electric with remote control is available.
Capacity
  • The maximum throat opening is 24 1/2" and the minimum opening is 12 1/2". The widest board that may be sawn is 24 1/4". 
Drive Motor
  • 75 hp, 1800-rpm TEFC electric motor.
